With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Merle Loretta MacDonald of Montague, Prince Edward Island, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Merle was predeceased by: parents, Daniel Sanderson and Blanche Sanderson (Burke); daughter Tracey Welsh; siblings, Emmett Sanderson, Dale Sanderson, Barbara O'Brien (Forest), Waneta MacDonald (Alex), Joan McDonald (Arthur), Vonda and Cynthia Sanderson; and brother-in-law John MacLeod.
Merle is survived by: boyfriend Harry Buell; daughters, Sandra and Donna MacDonald (Kenny); the father of children Herbert MacDonald; son-in-law Miles Welsh; grandchildren, Colton, Brandon, Ben, Carson and Angi; siblings, Muriel Bungay, Ray Sanderson (Theresa), Dionna MacDonald, Brent Sanderson (Sylvia), Rhonda MacLeod, Garnet Sanderson, Blaine Sanderson and Lionel Sanderson; and sister-in-law Sheila (Sanderson).
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 19th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Ferguson Logan Montague Funeral Home (40 Wood Islands Rd, Montague, PE C0A 1R0). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Ferguson Logan Montague Funeral Home Chapel (40 Wood Islands Rd, Montague, PE C0A 1R0).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Souris Hospital. Donations to the Souris Hospital will be collected at the wake by Merle's family.
