He was predeceased by: his parents, James Gain and Dorothy Gain (Malone); his brothers, Tony Gain and Jerry Connolly; his father-in-law Elmer Shaw (Verna); and his sister-in-law Joan MacLean.

He is survived by: his wife Sheila Gain (Shaw); his sister Helen Perry (Steve); and his siblings-in-law, Layton Shaw (Lorraine), Eugene Shaw (Nola) and Anne Gain. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
