He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Carruthers and Elizabeth Carruthers (MacKay). He is survived by: his wife Edith (Birch); his sons, Rob (Kathy Hubley) and Devan; his grandsons, William and MacLauchlan; his sister Isabel Smith (Mike); his siblings-in-law, Kevin Birch (Hazel) and Anna Miller (late Ross); and his aunt Audrey MacKay (late Donald). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
