He was predeceased by : his parent Ethel; his siblings, Jennifer Kitchen and David; and his brother-in-law Barry Cockerline. He is survived by : his wife Shirley Marie; his children, Alex (Izabella) and Jennifer (David MacHenry); his grandchildren, Aidan Alexander, Leila Marie and Caitlin Grace; his siblings, James (Maxine) and Carolyn Cockerline; his siblings-in-law, Gary Day (Gerrie) and Ruth; and also, Bill Day (Fiona) and Hubert Kitchen.

In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made to the Health Care Foundation or Gower Street United Church.
