She is survived by: her husband Edwin Wright; her daughters, Rosemarie (Edwin Smith), Nicole and Heather (Toma Weideman); her grandchildren, Edwin Matthew, Josiah, Micah and Sebastien; her mother Elsada; and her siblings, Monica, Rupert, Beverly, Lorna, Claude, Merlene and Hurvin. She is also survived by her nephews, nieces, cousins, church family and friends.

Due to the pandemic circumstances, the family will have a private viewing at Rideau Funeral Home.

Donations can be made in Valarie's name to the Alzheimer's Association. The Montreal branch has been a source of resources and family support to caregivers of loved ones with Alzheimer's.
