He was predeceased by: his former wife Rodena MacAskill; his parents, Marie-Ange Charette (Groulx) and Orville Charette; his sons, Richard and Randy; and his siblings, Ollie and Bernice Burnley.

He is survived by: his wife Lila; his stepchildren, Charlene Owen (Rick) of Kirkland Lake, Donna Marshall (Stewart) of Arkansas and Peter Kilian (Deborah) of Oshawa; and his siblings, Dick (Bev), Larry of Kirkland Lake and Irene of Ottawa. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
