He was predeceased by: his parents, Sam Goldman and Becky Goldman (Née Laster); and his siblings, Jeanette and Aaron. He is survived by: his spouse Sandy; his children, Ilan, Ronit (Noah) and Daveed (Ainsley); and his sister-in-law Helene. He is also survived by his relatives, friends.
In 2016, Hy and Sandy were recognized by the Government of Canada for their contributions to Canadian Culture with The Meritorious Service Medal of Canada.
