He is survived by: his wife June; his daughters, Katie, Sarah (Sandro) and Laura (Steve); his grandsons, Lou, Jack, Dylan and Riley; his sisters, Jane and Sherry (Ian); his nephew Matthew; and his sisters-in-law, Wendy (Aurele), Debby (Allan) and Candy (David).

“I just got the news concerning James's passing. Very sad and shocking news. June and family, please accept my condolences. I will always keep a very good memory of James while we were co-workers at Concordia in the Purchasing dept. When I left for McGill, I used to see him randomly, while walking on Ste-Catherine Street during lunch hour. We were chatting briefly, then back to our walk. Up to the next impromptu. I will miss these moments. Daniel Faucher”
