He was predeceased by : his wives, Rose Shlamowitz and Anne Litvack Schnider; his parents, Hyman Schnider and Tillie Mekler; and his sister Rose Cutler Medwinsky.

He is survived by : his children, Barbara Gordon and Howard (Shelli Schnider); his grandchildren, Mitchell, Shirley Gordon, Alana, Phil Reznick, Ryan, Miriam Schnider, Marlee and Eric Landy; his nieces and nephews, Stacey and Freddie Seller; his cousin Mel Manis; his friend Madeleine Giroux; and his caregiver Jasmine Shakes.

For the last 20 years, Louis worked at Trans Canada Carpet and retired in his ninety-eighth year when COVID broke the routine.
