She was predeceased by: her spouse José Freitas Melo; her children, Antonio (Conceição) and Nelia; and her grandchild Filomeno. She is survived by: her children, Lourdes, Odette (Lynda), Auzirio (Maria), Jose Manuel (Christine) and Sergio (Lizette); and her grandchildren, Tânia, Leo, Denys, Paulo, Marco, Jessica, Sébastien, Filipe, Sheela, Shawn, Jennifer, Joyce, Jeffrey, Matthew, Joshua and Michael. She is also survived by her 22 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, her siblings, many nieces, nephews and friends.
