She was predeceased by : her father Wasyl Wasylyshyn; her uncle Andrew Klym; and her stepsister Oksana Melnyk. She is survived by : her mother Anna Wasylyshyn; her stepfather Stefan Melnyk; her sister Doris Diachuk (Stefan); her stepsister Iryna Melnyk (Gaetan); her aunt Maria Szmyrko (Walter); her uncle John Klym; her cousins, Irene Schotts and Walter Szmyrko (Ginger); her nieces, Marika and Eva; her friends, Sonia, Danko, Agnes Kaczmarek, Anna Kalyniak and Colin Gravenor Jr. (Hsiao Huei Chang); and also, Brian, Danny, Timmy and Oleh Szklar. She is also survived by her parents and a loving big sister.

She truly loved them all as family.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church.

I had the pleasure of meeting Sylvia on the phone due to business and found her to be courteous and friendly. When I finally met her in person a few months later during a visit to Montreal, her warmth and loving nature shone through, and it is certainly understandable why she was loved by so many.
