He was predeceased by: his father Douglas Hicks; his grandparents, John, Olivia Dosch, Orville and Hazel Hicks; and his friend Blaine Andrews.

He is survived by: his mother Deloris Hicks; his nephews, Jessie, Dillon and Cole; and his siblings, Debra (Martin), Dawn (Michael), Dennis (Tammy) and Deidre (Chris).
