It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Violet Stankewich of Canora, Saskatchewan, who passed away on December 31, 2020, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by : her husband Walter Stankewich; her parents, Samuel Pozium and Nellie Pozium (Tomashewski); her parents-in-law, Frank and Ann Stankewich (Rewakowsky); her siblings, Ann Woznow (Mike), Helen Boyda (Alex), Florence Stankewich (Mike), Elsie Lapshinoff (Mike), Alex and Victor Pozium; her siblings-in-law, Charlie Reti, Marvin Dutchak, Bill Pawluk, Steve Stankewich (Mary) and Mary Dubel; and her nephew Wayne Reti.
She is survived by : her children, Tony Stankewich, Gail Gorchynski (John) and Karen Ochitwa (Merv); her grandchildren, Bridget Derbyshire (Brian), Clinton Stankewich (Krista), Crystal Semchyshen (Peter), Carrie Schlechter (Rian), Amanda Sutton (Neil), Logan Ochitwa (Ambria), Karli Ochitwa and Tyler Ochitwa; her great grandchildren, Allyssa, Taylor, Desiree, Tierra, Destiny, Peter, Kristie, Graedyn, Eliott, William and Laurel; her sister Marie Reti; her siblings-in-law, Rosie Pozium, Jean Dutchak, Nellie Pawluk and Paul Stankewich; and also Walter. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 7th 2021 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at the Chapel of Leson's Funeral Home (128 2 Ave, Canora, SK S0A0L0). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 8th 2021 at 10:00 AM at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (904 Main St, Canora, SK S0A0L0). A burial was held on Friday, January 8th 2021 at the Canora Cemetery (Unnamed Road, Canora, SK S0A0L0).
