He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter and Lena; and his brother Carl. He is survived by: his wife Anna Maria; his children, Danny (Bonnie), Saskatoon and Michael (Laura); his grandchildren, Chasta Gerwing, Dalmeny and David Symynuk; his great grandchildren, Dylan, Karter and Jayce Gerwing; and his siblings, Clayton, Saskatoon, Norman (Linda), B. C., Marjorie Crozier (Ron), Biggar and Linda O'Neill. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
