She was predeceased by : her parents, Mildred Smithson and Richard Smithson; her husband Mansel Powell; her son John Steven; and her siblings, Joyce Uhl, Ruby Zimmer, Ken, Jack, Morley Smithson and Marguerite.

She is survived by : her children, Jack Powell (Carrie), Gloria Powell-Smith (Bryce) of Saskatoon, Sandra Gulka (Bill) and Bernice. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Memorials in Bernice's memory may be made to the Holy Trinity Anglican Church as tokens of remembrance.
