He was predeceased by: his former wife Gertrude (Ziprick); and his siblings, Marvin Finstad, Williard Peterson, Ethel Haukeness (Elvin) and Fern Budzak (Mike).

He is survived by: his wife Myrtle; his children, Carol Shauf (Brian), Paul Finstad and Ivan Finstad (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Robert Shauf (Diana), Andy Shauf, Nicole Finstad (Kayla), Kurt Butlin (Audrey), Ian Finstad (Merin) and Dakz Wilson; his great grandchildren, Josie, Faye Shauf, Ivy and Violet Finstad; and his brothers, Alton Finstad (Virginia) and Gordon Finstad (late Marlene). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
