He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Lizzie Sanderson; his daughter Ida Mahoney; his grandchildren, Jenny Sanderson and Clayton Ballantyne; his parents, Alfred Sanderson and Amelia Sanderson; and his siblings, Sandy Sanderson, William Sanderson, Zacheus Sanderson, John Sanderson, Wilson Stanley Sanderson, Wilson Albert Sanderson, George Sanderson, Miles Sanderson, Lydia Sanderson and Jane Sanderson.

He is survived by: his children, Gerald Sanderson (Annie), James Sanderson (Jean), Rose Sanderson, Sophie Sanderson (Tim Prutton), Linda Upstone (Brett), Irene Sanderson, Henry Sanderson (Emily), Bella Sanderson (Ben Halliday) and David Sanderson; and his son-in-law Bill Mahoney. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
