He was predeceased by: his parents, Abe Thiesen and Mary Thiesen; and his brothers, Arnie, Bill and Pete.

He is survived by: his wife Brenda Thiesen; his children, Alex Thiesen (Jesse), David Kasper and Jennifer Wilson (Bill); his grandchildren, Ashley Kasper (Andrew Tran), Alex Kasper, Shyla Wilson (Blake Haavisto), James Wilson and Jolene Wilson; his great grandchildren, Vinh and Piper; and his brother Don Thiessen (Dorothy). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
