He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob Thiessen and Susanna Thiessen; and his siblings, John Thiessen (Mary), Bill Thiessen (Verna), Jack Thiessen (Helen), Pete Thiessen (Anne), Ike Thiessen, Frank Thiessen, Susan Tiessen (Dirk), Helen Schmidt (Harry), Liz Blushke (Adolf), Mary Epp (Ben), Agnes Dyck (Frank) and Anne Thiessen.

He is survived by: his wife Gloria; his daughter Gail (Ken); his grandchild Danielle; his great grandchild Alex; his grandchild Chantal (Mike); his great grandchildren, Dylan and Landon; his grandchild Tabatha (Chris); his great grandchildren, Brooke and Cory; his daughter Lorna; his grandchild Terran; his son Scott; and his grandchildren, Austin and Haley. He is also survived by his Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.
