He was predeceased by : his parents, Fred Senft and Lottie Senft; his parents-in-law, Rev. Arthur Miller and Margaret Miller; his sister Evelyn Fry; and his sisters-in-law, Margaret, Marion Miller and Mary Ellen Miller.

He is survived by : his wife Esther; his children, Barry (Carolee), Carter (Kirsten), Lyndsey, Garth, Taylor (Georgia), Blake, Grace, Riley (Chelsea) and Austin (Mikaela); his sisters, Bernice Neu and Ivy Buium; and his brother-in-law Wilfred Miller.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Werner to Living Christ Lutheran Church or the Canadian Cancer Society.
