He was predeceased by : his children, Matthew and Nicole; his parents, Cal McDermid and Ruth McDermid; and his siblings, Harold and Nancy.

He is survived by : his children, Jennine McDermid (Kyle Penner) and Ashley McDermid (Brett Weed); his close friend Rosalie King; his siblings, Louise Tarasiuk (Lyle), Sandi Boyd (Doug), Valerie Terry (Pat) and Robert McDermid (Tracy); and his spouse Debbi Naber. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other family, and dear friends.
