He was predeceased by: his parents, Oliver Skappel and Margaret Skappel; his wife Hilda Skappel; his son Jeffery Skappel; and his siblings, Art, Larry Skappel, Elva Skappel and Anette Larson.

He is survived by: his son Werner Skappel (Becky DeYaegher) of Wawota, SK; his grandson Jeffrey; his children, Andrew Skappel of Minton, SK and Ashlee Skappel (Terry Deboice) of Coronation, AB.; his sister Norma Skappel; his brother-in-law Don Larson; and his pet Pete. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 19th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Lesja's Scandinavian Cemetery.
