He was predeceased by: his parents, Newton and Lyla; his brother Dale Greiner; and his half-siblings, Clifford Greiner and Marion Shellrude.

He is survived by: his wife Sharon; his children, Debbie Thul (Dan), Barb Raine (Steve), Todd Greiner (Kellie), Carla Johnson and Leone Cruz (Marcus); and his brother Earl (Maxine). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
