He was predeceased by : his parents, Gladys Chickosis and Micheal Checkosis; his siblings, Karen Johnson, Gloria Chickosis, Edna Checkosis, Millicent Checkosis and Jamie; his nephew Tristan Checkosis; his grandmother Julia Checkosis; his uncles, Gilbert, Victor and Gerald; his aunt Virginia; and his cousin Ricky Checkosis.

He is survived by : his brother Frederick Myron Checkosis; his grandson Scott Kakum; and his adoptive daughter Whitney Kakum. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren.
