He was predeceased by: his parents, Jannis Balkenende and Orma Balkenende; and his sister Susan Tanner. He is survived by: his children, Cynthia Daurio (Chris), Christina Balkenende and Patrick Balkenende. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren; his nephews, family and friends.
