He was predeceased by: his parents, Jeannette Lowes of Prince Albert, SK and Robert Lowes; his parents-in-law, Margaret and Garnet Bird of Paddockwood, SK.; and his siblings-in-law, Kathy Sass of Prince Albert, SK and Ken Bird of Grande Manam, NB..
He is survived by: his wife Bonnie Lowes (Bird); his children, Jamie and Valerie (Acorn); his grandchildren, Layne, James and Bryce; his children, Jessie and Chad Mauthe; his grandchildren, Kaydance, Hartlyn and Michael; his children, Corey and Toni (Lavigne); his grandchildren, Raydin, Sage and Ryker; his siblings, Maureen Wadham (Glen), Jody Woodman (Wayne), Bobby Lowes (Shelly), Trent Lowes (Terrilynn) and Kari Kaye (Earl); and his siblings-in-law, Keith Bird (Kim MacLean), Brian Bird (Dianne) and Diane Bird (Michel Quirion). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nephews, great nieces and lifelong friends.
Because this form of Parkinson's progressed so quickly, it became very important to him to help others facing the same battle. In that spirit, he made the brave and selfless decision to donate his brain to Parkinson's Research, hoping his journey could contribute to a future cure.
