He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank, Jr. Chanig and Cecile Chanig (Vargo); and his nephews, Chris Collens, Jerald Chanig and Richard Smith.

He is survived by: his wife Lorraine Chanig; his children, Laurel (Roger), Brian (Lynda), Trevor (Lori), Cory Chanig, Cal Chanig and Michelle Chanig; and his siblings, Shirley Collins (Lee), Vicky Sanchuck (Bill), David Chanig (Lorna) and Jerry Chanig (Ev). He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren & nieces and nephews.
