He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank and Barbara; his stepfather Johnes Gustafson; his brothers, Tony, Bill and Frank; and his brother-in-law Bill Stanley.

He is survived by: his wife Betty; his children, Allison Buchanan (Greg), Keith, Matthew and Karleen; his grandchildren, James, Eric, Nolan, Madilynn and Lucus; his brother Carl; and his sisters-in-law, Florence Stanley and Shirley Sawatzki (Gunther).

He was also recognized by the Lt. Governor of Saskatchewan for his donations of blood numbering over 500.
