He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Newman and Ida Newman; and his siblings, Francis, Everett, Lloyd, Harvey, Mel, Evelyn Power and Pearl Bretz.

He is survived by: his wife Mary; his daughters, Bonnie Shields and Janice Richardson; his son-in-law Glen Richardson; his grandchildren, Stacy Shields, Andrew (Victoria), Gregory (Kaitlin) and David Richardson; his great grandchildren, Annie, Brady, Ada and Mackenzie; and his sister-in-law Grace Wilton. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
