He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. Clarence M. Cherland and Ramona Cherland (Opheim); and his sister Ruth Hilderman (David). He is survived by: his wife Meredith; his children, Elisabeth Cherland (Kent Narum) and Ben Cherland; his grandsons, Elijah Cherland-Narum and Leif Cherland-Narum; his siblings, Henrik Cherland (Joleen), Esther Cherland (David Jobling) and Susan Cherland (Volker Greifenhagen); Joyce Rich (Ken). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
