She was predeceased by: her husband William "Bill" Bessey; her parents, Hendrikus Dam and Martha van Dam; and her sisters, Johanna Culic, Ann Grootjes and Marta Duquette.
She is survived by: her children, Donna Hodel (Colin), James Redeker, Linda Oakley, Jennifer Runzer (Robert) and Alan Waugh; her grandchildren, April Smith and Christian Hodel (Skye Missick); her great grandchildren, Taylor Smith, Joel, Regan Runzer and Cabri Waugh; and her siblings, Tina Scott (Eldon) and Hans van Dam.
