He was predeceased by: his parents, Ion Gheorghiu and Smaranda Gheorghiu; and his brothers, Jean, Ticā and Icā.
He is survived by: his wife Virginia Gheorghiu; his daughters, Anda Dima (Paul) and Oana Enick (Chris); his sister-in-law Elena Gheorghiu; his grandchildren, Violeta (Chad), Julia (Justin), Mario (Tiffany), Calista, Tristan and Cassia; and his nephews, Sandu (Doina), Cristian (Nuşa), Ionuţ and Florin (Georgiana).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Parkside Extendicare, William Booth Special Care Home, and the Regina Humane Society to honour Dumitru's memory.
