Elwood Byrnes Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Elwood Byrnes (Regina, Saskatchewan), who passed away on January 15, 2026, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his wife Gaylene; his parents, Walter Byrnes and Mary Byrnes; his brother Ken; his parents-in-law, Ivan and Florence Ridgway; his siblings-in-law, Bob Mihalicz and Marion Byrnes; and his grandson-in-law Tom Lax.

He is survived by: his children, Don (Roberta), Dale (Kim) and Cheryl Wiest (Mark); his grandchildren, Angela (Chuck), Nicole (Justin), Jason (Carly), Jared (Hayley), Jordan (Jenna) and Jayla (Marshall); his great grandchildren, Jaxon, Corbin, Violet, Easton, Charleigh, Davis, Rylan, Maxton, Kaelyn and Cameron; and his sister-in-law Marilyn. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Following the pandemic, Gaylene's passing in 2021, and subsequent health challenges, Elwood was no longer able to travel, but he continued to follow Kona news online each day.
