He was predeceased by: his daughter Melody (Eugene); his parents, Joseph and Cecil; and his siblings, Dale and Warren.

He is survived by: his wife Barbara; his children, Colbey, Blain, Echo (Tim) and Barb; his grandchildren, Dalton, Rhett, Kaitlin, Karly and Kira; his great grandchildren, Vaeda and Maddox; and his siblings, Audrey, Brian, Barry, Wes and Doug. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donation may be made in the memory of Emil to the Palliative Care Unit at the Regina Pasqua Hospital.
