He is survived by: his wife Carole Neilson; his children, Douglas Neilson (Corrine), Linda Hammond (Craig) and Kristina Neilson; his grandchildren, Danielle Neilson (Jeremy), Rachel Hammond (Jayden), Mackenzie Liskowich (Jack), Cory Neilson (Samantha), Zane Neilson and Mason Neilson; his great grandchild Scottie Neilson; his sisters-in-law, Wendy Reynolds (Bob) and Darlene McKechnie (Mort); and his cousins, Jim Paisley (Marilyn) and Bob Maurice (Sherry). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ernie's memory may be made to the Palliative Care Unit through the Hospitals of Regina Foundation.
