He was predeceased by: his parents, George and Freda; his parents-in-law, Lloyd and Annie Duke; his siblings-in-law, Cam McGillivray, Tom Nowakowski, Gary Hayhurst and Laurel Beer; and his niece Leanne Duke.

He is survived by: his wife Dianne; his grandchildren, Krista, Russ Munson, Jamie, Rob, Carson, Callie Burnett, Karleen, Regan, Evan and Jonah Pinel; his siblings-in-law, Elgin, Ivan (Sharon), Ron Duke (Steph), Marlene McGillivray and Doreen Brace (Perry); his uncle Bill; his aunt Doreen Blyth; and his siblings, Ken (Susan), Barry (Debbie), Bob Beer (Flo), Irene Nowakowski and Marlene Hayhurst. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, colleagues and friends.
