He was predeceased by: his mother Pauline Cherney; his brothers, Ernie and Ron; his sister-in-law Stephanie Cherney; his nephews, Toby and Dallas; and his parents-in-law, Albert and Evelyn Getslaf.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Anne; his sisters-in-law, Betty Cherney, Ruth Cochrane and Donna Bibeau (George); his sibling's children, Lori (Maurizio), Cyndi Cherney (Rob Haroldson), Gabrielle Maclean, Renée Bibeau, Luc Bibeau (Kiri Staples), Kaylie (Aaron) and Aaron Cochrane (Tayla); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Evan, Noah, Liam, Elliott, Carter, Lila, Seb, Wyatt and June.
