Reginald Harold Larson Obituary

The Larson family would like to share that on Friday, April 28, 2023 at the age of 71 years, Reg passed into the presence of the Lord. He was predeceased by his father Harold Larson and sister-in-law Carol Boyle Taylor. Left to celebrate his life are: his loving wife of 51 years Ardie Larson; daughter Keri (Stuart) Sutton; son Jared (Carmen) Larson and daughter Katrina (James Whelan) Larson; grandchildren Ella, Abby, and Emmy Sutton, Dylann and Kade Larson; mother Marjorie Larson; sister Sharon (Dwight) Wooley; nieces Michelle (Brandin) Titanich and April (Dan) Wooley; brother-in-law Murray Taylor; niece Kirsty Taylor; nephew Andrew Taylor; cousins Dave (Lenora) Pliska and Judy (Glenn) Pidmen. Reg passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He leaves his family with many wonderful memories of camping at Madge Lake, trips to California, the farm at Riceton and holiday gatherings. Family was always very important to Reg. He adored his grandchildren and loved spending time with them on the farm and watching them in their activities. Reg's love for the farm began at an early age working alongside his father, Harold, where he continued his own family farm until his retirement. Reg attended elementary school in Riceton and high school in Milestone. He completed a Vocational Agricultural degree at the University of Saskatchewan where he met nursing student Ardie Taylor. They were married April 15, 1972 and began their family farming career at Estlin. They purchased their home quarter at Riceton in 1976 where they farmed until they retired. He took pride raising his children on the farm and involving them in all activities. On hot summer days he would break from work and take the family swimming at their grandparent's farm. He was a great supporter in his kids' activities such as driving to Lions Band practices, music lessons, youth group, skating, swimming lessons, 4H woodworking, hockey and Bible Quizzing. Later, Reg enjoyed spending time with grandchildren in activities like pickle ball, camping, golfing, helping around farm, travelling to Disneyland, California, boating, woodworking and watching Roughriders play football. Reg and Ardie's faith in Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of raising their family. They found a special community at Hillsdale Alliance Church where Reg volunteered on the board of trustees and Ardie taught Sunday school. They went on to lead the quizzing program for many years and would open their home at the farm to quizzers and Sunday school classes for socials. This enthusiasm encouraged them to start a Bible quizzing program at Milestone Alliance Church and later helping with the quizzing program at Heritage Alliance Church. Reg's cancer treatments did not hinder his commitment to the quizzers as he was able to wrap up the season with them. Throughout his journey of cancer treatments, he remained optimistic and grateful to remain at home. The family wants to thank the Palliative Home Care Staff for their dedication, love and kindness which played an integral role for Reg to remain home with regular visits. They are also so thankful for the prayer, encouragement and visits from Pastor Shea and the church family who continue to walk alongside them. Reg did not view his cancer as an end but as the end of one chapter. He demonstrated his faith in God throughout this journey, continuing to thank God for his grace. In his final days he shared that he was beginning to see more glimpses of heaven, and the hope that is found in Jesus alone.

Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. Psalm 62:5-6. Donations can be made to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre through the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan on the webpage (http://www.cancerfoundationsask.ca) or by mailing cheques to Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan, 200-4545 Parliament Ave., Regina, SK S4W 0G3 with a note in memory of Reg Larson.
