He was predeceased by: his wife Bertha (Joyce); his parents, Albert Holmes and Fanny Holmes; his sister Myrtle Deyell; and his son-in-law Don Gackle.

He is survived by: his children, Susan Gackle, Judy Brand and William Holmes (Naomi); his grandchildren, Patricia Ritter (Lee), Jeffrey Gackle, Erika Ponace, Devin Holmes (Amy), Miranda Baker (Gerry) and Sara Holmes (Adrian Webster); and his great grandchildren, Kaizia, Darius, Isabella, Penelope, Persephone, Douglas, Zachary and Noah.
