He was predeceased by: his wife Shirley; and his parents, John Wilhelms and Dorothy Wilhelms. He is survived by: his sons, David (Nadine) and Bob (Shirley Reiter); his grandchildren, Janine Wrubleski (Derek), Lora, Erica (Dan), Thomas and Andrew (Grayson); his great grandchild Elliot Wrubleski; his siblings, Lorraine Cameron, Allan (Anne), Milton (Sharon) and Lloyd (Monique); and his sister-in-law Louise Lamberton. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close family friends.
Donations in honour of Walter may be made to the Regina Pasqua Hospital 3A Palliative Care Unit.
