He was predeceased by: his daughter Katherine Mastel; his brothers, Victor Baer (Agnes), Frank Baer (Hilda), Ernie Baer (Rita) and Rynold Baer; and his brother-in-law Gerald Newman.

He is survived by: his wife Agnes Baer; his daughter Carol Fink (Michael); his grandchildren, Kristen Dent, Kirby Ziegler, Christopher Taylor, Mitchell Ziegler (Serenna), Colton Fink, Dayn Mastel and Karlie Mastel; his great grandchildren, Damien Taylor, Nikkia Taylor and Amelia Dent; and his sisters, Katie Dean (Kenneth), Janet Zimmer (Carl), Beatrice Newman and Marlene Zimmer (Ronald). He is also survived by relatives and friends.
