He was predeceased by: his wife Adrie; his siblings, Rienus, Bep, Hannie and Nico; and his stepfather Willian Borsje.

He is survived by: his children, Adriana, Linda (Marshall), Arie Jr. (Leslie), Rick (Kim), Elsa (Rob) and Tim (Karen); his grandchildren, Nikki, Jill, Luke, Sean, Katrina, Patrick, Christopher, Brianna, Clark, Rachelle, Carson, Rylan, Avery, Clive, Pierce, Maeve, Eve, Courtney, Nash, Beau, Leo, Hollyn, Isaiah, Liz, Jagger, Karter, Lexie, Annie and Kallistus; and his great great grandchild Arabella.
