He was predeceased by: his parents, Nora Kirk and Andrew Kirk; his in-laws, Madge and Harvey McNaught; his brother Hugh Kirk; and his son Stephen Kirk.

He is survived by: his wife Merilyn D. Kirk; his sons, Bruce and Vern (Michelle); his grandchildren, Stephenie Holmstrom (Erik), Joseph Kirk (Jenni LaBranche), Scott Kirk (Emily Fehr), Luc Kirk (Paige Mitchell) and Michael Kirk; and his great grandchild Adelaide Holmstrom.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Barry Kirk be made to the Colonsay Cemetery, SPCA or Canadian Cancer Society.
