He was predeceased by: his brother Bill (William); his sister-in-law Darlene; his parents-in-law, Jack and Hilma; his brother-in-law Leonard; his nephew Glenn; and his parents, Michael Carey and Edna Carey.

He is survived by: his wife Phyllis; his son Dean (Jill); his grandchildren, Robert, Benjamin (Yasamin), Janna and Paige; his son Patrick; his grandchildren, Bren and Kael; and his brother-in-law Vern Lappi (Marilyn). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
