He was predeceased by: his daughter Lori-Lynn Laliberte (Abbey); his son-in-law Gerald Laliberte; his parents, Sydney Abbey and Rhoda Abbey (Ramstein); and his in-laws, Irwin and Irene Ruttle (Bonser).

He is survived by: his wife Carol Ruttle-Abbey; his daughter Heather Abbey (Samuel Tipewan); his grandchildren, Trey, Giovanni, Dayvan, Kiowa and Summer; his great grandchild Isabella; his brother Michael Abbey (Dominique); and his siblings-in-law, Brenda Ruttle and David Ruttle. He is also survived by five nephews and one niece.
