He was predeceased by: his significant other Helen Bates; and his parents, Joseph Bates and Helen Bates. He is survived by: his son Jim Bates (Karen); his grandsons, Jayson (Charlotte) and Jackson (Josie); his great grandchildren, Noah, Charlie, Liam and Peyton; his daughter Bev (Sandy); his grandchildren, Erin (Hopper), Ashley (Steve) and Ainsley (Dustin); his great grandchildren, Brooke, Jack and Romy; his son Tim; his grandchildren, Tyler (Brea), Mitch, Cara (Michelle) and Katie (Rena); his great grandchildren, Hallie, Liv and Kruz; and his brother Barry (Louise). He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
