He was predeceased by: his parents, Teofil Herman and Elsie Lutze; his stepfather Hans Lutze; his parents-in-law, Nick Oleksyn and Olga Oleksyn; his sisters-in-law, Laura Stocki and Judy DeSa; and his grandparents, Sam, Julia Zwer, Jacob and Pauline Herman.

He is survived by: his wife Gwendolyn; his children, Tammy Newton Herbert (Morton), Michelle Fluney (Steven) and Dean Herman; his grandchildren, Tyson Newton, Bradley Newton, Jillian Newton, Ashley Fluney, Austin Fluney and Garett Fluney; his great grandchildren, Maison Martell and Marley Klyne; and his siblings, Don Herman (Alda), Gary Herman (Cec), Jack Lutze (Jacquie), David Lutze (Deanna) and Diane Yochim (Dwight).
