He was predeceased by: his wife Katherine; his parents, Edward Monks and Kathleen Monks; and his siblings, Dr. Maureen Mackle, Eileen Monks and Vincent of Ireland.
He is survived by: his brother Dr. Eamonn Monks; and his children, Trish Cronin (Gerry), Mary Lou Schwinghammer (Michael), Desmond Monks (Karen), John Monks and Janice Wigle (John). He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 14 great grand children.
