He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter and Jeannette; his siblings, Anna Paine and Bert; his parents-in-law, Jacob and Agnes Miller; his siblings-in-law, Betty Winmill, Anne Miller and Con Miller; and his son-in-law David Birchfield.

He is survived by: his wife Betty Miller; his children, Anna Story (Joe), Joyce Birchfield and Doug (Karen); and his siblings-in-law, Dan, Laura Miller and Helen Miller. He is also survived by 12 nieces and nephews, seven grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
