He was predeceased by: his parents, Der Yea and Golden Der; his wife Natalie Der Yea; and his siblings, Toy, May, Hayven, Ben, John, Janline, Phyllis and Keith.
He is survived by: his children, Lamont Kai of Lloydminster, Cindy Kai Anderson (Don Anderson) of Boise, Jason Der (Heidi Abbey-Der) of Martensville and Michael Der (Kimmy) of Calgary; his sister Lois Kuchta (Rudy) of Thunder Bay; and his grandchildren, Deb Friesen, Heath Kai, Corrin Remando (Mike), Donita Anderson, Bethany Gilman (Steve) and Austin Abbey-Der. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
